Abstract | Very dynamic environments with high volume of heterogeneous data, like semi-structured data systems, DRM repositories, digital libraries, web services, distributed object systems, etc. require more flexible constructions for the expression and management of access control systems than those provided by traditional access control models. This talk will introduce the basic concepts, mechanisms and tools of the Semantic Access Control model; a new access control model that solves the problems of other access control models when applied to these environments. This model provides a high level of interoperability, scalability, flexibility, and adaptability. It ensures semantic policy soundness, eases administration and avoids the need for a registration phase. The talk will also show how SAC can be applied to different scenarios, with particular emphasis on access control to XML-based contents. |
