AIDA is a database of company accounts, ratios, activities, ownership, subsidiaries and management for 280,000 live Italian companies. Consolidated accounts are available for over 3,000 companies. AIDA also incorporates a database of scanned images of the year end reports and accounts for approaching 110,000 companies.

The accounts are in a detailed format and include 50 ratios as standard (you can also create your own ratios that you can use in your searches and for analysis). News relating to the companies is also included.

Each company on AIDA is part of a default peer group based on its activity codes; integral graphs illustrate its position in this peer group. A company tree diagram instantly shows the structure of the group.

The software lets you search for companies that comply with your own criteria. You can combine as many conditions as you like and you can use full Boolean logic (and, or, not). When you have identified a group of companies you can compare them against each other and create both graphs and tables. You can also analyse the results of your search in a simple matrix plotting the companies by the criteria of your choice. For example, you can view a group of companies by region and activity and plot the results graphically. Information can be downloaded into most packages.

Further features include: an Addin function that facilitates the analysis of “live” data from AIDA within Excel/Access and BvD’s matching software, which allows you to compare your own database records with those that also occur in AIDA and update or enhance your data accordingly.

As the software on AIDA is so flexible you can use it for many different research projects including: detailed financial analysis and credit risk assessment, corporate finance, venture capital and M&A research, sales and marketing including feasibility assessment and generating data for campaigns plus academic study and teaching.

AIDA is available on the internet, as an intranet feed and on CD-ROM.

BvDEP Electronic Publishing was established in 1990 as a separate entity following a division of activities within Bureau Marcel van Dijk. Established in 1970 as a management consultant, Bureau Marcel van Dijk specialised in the evaluation and implementation of information systems in large public and private organisations. The three resultant companies (electronic publishing, management consultants and computer services) are not linked. They operate in different markets and have different shareholders and management.
